2006 Enduring Spirit Honorees

The Emerging Force of Native Women in Politics

On May 8, 2008, the 6th Annual Native Women's Leadership Forum & Enduring Spirit Honoring Luncheon will take place at the Quinault Beach Resort in Ocean Shores, Wa. This year's theme is "The Emerging Force of Native Women in Politics" to celebrate recent accomplishments and highlight Native women who are forging new paths in politics. The morning session will begin with a welcome from Quinault President, Fawn Sharp followed by a panel discussion on "Native Women - 2008 & Beyond" featuring Lona Wilbur (Swinomish), Julie Johnson (Lummi), Senator Claudia Kauffman (Nez Perce), and Pearl Baller (Quinault).

The Native Women's Leadership Forum is targeted to women and youth (grades 6-12). This year participants can select workshops from three tracks:
1) Leadership
2) Empowerment
3) Youth
